Castletownbere RNLI lifeboat rushed to the assistance of two sailors whose yacht got into difficulties during Storm Betty last night.
The voluntary crew faced a three-hour trip through what has been described as "driving rain, strong winds and a large sea swell" to reach the vessel.
The 31-foot ketch had been anchored off Dromquinna, but as the storm strengthened, the vessel dragged anchor and became stuck fast on a rock.
When the yacht was located, both sailors were safe and well.
At its completion, the voluntary RNLI crew will have spent over 10 hours on the rescue.
RNLI Lifeboat Operations Manager Paul Stevens, says the yacht is currently being towed by the lifeboat to Castletownbere:
"It was just about six o'clock in the morning by the time they got to district in the stricken yacht. Fortunately the tide was raising and they were able to put a tow on board the yacht, those people on board were safe and well, and the yacht was undamaged, so they were able to take the yacht under tow, and currently they're towing to Castletownbere - they're just north of Dursey Sound and expected here in Castletownbere at about two o'clock".
