The celebrant at the funeral of Shane Murphy has said that the 27-year-old was "an honest man and kind-hearted person".
Shane died after being stabbed, early in the morning of the 25th March in a house at Seaview Avenue in Carrigaline.
His father 75-year-old Weeshie, was also injured in the attack, and continues to receive treatment in Cork University Hospital.
A 42-year-old man, John Murphy, has been charged in relation to the attack.
During the funeral many tributes were made to Shane's achievements as a pitch and putt star.
Celebrant Father Charles Nyhan says that despite his natural talent, Shane was "a wonderful example... [of how] to carry your talent ... no matter how great it is, in a humble way":
"Shane, he was an honest man, a kind-hearted person, thoughtful of others, respectful to all. And of course to his mam Marie - he was her pride and joy, and to his dad Weeshie - he was a true companion. An outstanding natural Pitch and Putt player - All-Ireland Champion twice, as well as winning numerous trophies here in Ireland and in Spain and other places. So unassuming too - he was just a wonderful example of how to carry your talent, no matter how great it is, in a humble way".
