Cork's population has increased by 7.1% in six years.
That's according to the preliminary findings of Census 2022 which found that all counties experienced population growth with the population of Cork city and county now standing at 581,231.
Overall the population of the Republic of Ireland is now the highest it has been since pre-Famine times.
The population of Ireland is now at 5.1 million, an increase of 7.6% in six years.
It is the highest population recorded in a census since 1841 and the first time the population exceeded 5 million since 1851.
