The National Risk Assessment has been compiled annually since the economic crash and contains 25 risks facing Ireland in areas such as the economy, society, the environment and technology.

It comes as universities struggle with the current back-dated funding model and the uncertainty it creates.

Sean O'Driscoll says universities need a multi-annual funding model:

"The item that worries me is that we are taking our education for granted and our education system for granted, and we're putting it at a risk. Last year, it identified 25 risks. Education is not one of those. It should be because of the funding crisis, which is recognised by government, identified by government and quantified by government, but nothing has been done about it."
