Cork Harbour Alliance for a Safe Environment says the community is on alert after Indaver Ireland unveiled fresh plans for a facility in the Lower Harbour
It comes after An Bórd Pleanála issued letters to a number of residents alerting them to the reactivation of a proposal for a waste to energy facility in Ringaskiddy
The proposal has prompted fears that a 24 year campaign to oppose an incinerator in the area will have to be reignited.
CHASE PRO Linda Fitzpatrick told RedFM News they would really like to have had the case thrown out altogether in 2017 rather than let it back to An Bórd Pleanála
"We were thrilled to get the win where the planning was quashed, because that was key for us, but it wasn't thrown out completely and that would have been the ideal situation, and what we think, should have happened. We now see it as a highly contaminated application, it's been thrown out of court for objective bias and on top of that none of the inspectors found the site was suitable for the project"
