Childcare services will continue to close if the "fee freeze" is not addressed.
That's according to the Federation of Early Childcare Providers which says it welcomes the increase in wage for staff who work in preschools and creches but says providers won't be able to afford the high costs if they can't raise their fees.
30 childcare facilities closed in Cork last year and providers are continuing to call for an increase in Government funding.
Speaking to RedFM News, Elaine Dunne of the Federation of Early Childcare Providers says services will continue to close if funding issues aren't addressed:
"We do welcome it, but we need our Minister to address the elephant in the room, and that is that the fee freeze is crippling many of the small and medium services. And without that being addressed, you're going to continue to see services closing down around this country, nationally, and that is happening as we speak, I know, services are gone in Cork."
