Members of Cork City Fire Service were balloted for industrial action last month and the proposed action is due to take place on Friday.
The disagreement centres around staffing levels, which fire crews say has become more of an issue since Ballincollig became part of the city.
Ballincollig was served by a local part-time retained service, however crews from the city were tasked with covering the area following the boundary extension in 2019.
The City Council say they have serious concerns about the proposed industrial action and have contacted the WRC to request the services of the Labour Court
