Cork City Council is set to purchase the Port of Cork's quays in the city centre.
The Irish Examiner report that a deal has been struck between the council and the Port of Cork to acquire 1.5 kilometres of quayside along the south and north docks.
It's reported that the deal will be completed once the Port company relocates to Ringaskiddy - there is no timeframe as of yet for that relocation.
Over 146 hectares are to be developed at the docklands over the next 20 years, making it one of the largest regeneration projects in Europe.
