The City Council has been forced to undertake an emergency excavation on the South Douglas Road.
A Council crew is carrying out the works at Upper Mount View - to repair a main wastewater sewer - which has been blocked with concrete.
The works began this morning and are expected to be completed by 7.30pm on Sunday.
Traffic management will be in place.
How exactly the sewer became blocked by an apparently 'illegal' discharge of concrete, is not yet known.
