It is centred around supporting housing, economic development, public realm renewal, transport, amenity spaces and community services in existing built-up areas using the internationally-acclaimed 15 minute city model.

Speaking to RedFM Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr Colm Kelleher encouraged people to look at the plans.

"It's the first city development plan that has been modelled on a 15 minute plan, with the CMATs (Cork Metropolitan Area Transport Strategy) which is the light rail system from Ballincollig to Mahon, new stations being proposed for the Northside of the city, Bus Connects.

"The draft being published today is going out for public consultation until the 4th of October.
