The Lord Mayor is encouraging people to have their say on The City Development Plan.
The draft plans for 'Our City Our Future' has been published today and sets out key objectives and planning policies that will shape transformative development of the city to 2028 and beyond.
It's the the first of three City Development Plans that will provide a pathway to a 50% increase in population by 2040 to allow Cork to grow as a city of international scale.
It is centred around supporting housing, economic development, public realm renewal, transport, amenity spaces and community services in existing built-up areas using the internationally-acclaimed 15 minute city model.
The draft Cork City Development Plan goes out to public consultation for an 8 week period.
Speaking to RedFM Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr Colm Kelleher encouraged people to look at the plans.
"It's the first city development plan that has been modelled on a 15 minute plan, with the CMATs (Cork Metropolitan Area Transport Strategy) which is the light rail system from Ballincollig to Mahon, new stations being proposed for the Northside of the city, Bus Connects.
"The draft being published today is going out for public consultation until the 4th of October.
"This is obviously the first development plan that has taken place int he Covid era, and it gives our citizens the opportunity and their say into how we shape our city."
