A library in the city has had to close today due to a demonstration taking place nearby.
The City Library says the decision was taken 'in the interests of the safety and wellbeing of its staff, and the public'.
The protest which is taking place at Grand Parade in Cork city today, relate to the availability of LGBTQ+ books for young adults
Labour Education Spokesperson Aodháin Ó Ríordáin described the demonstrations as 'disgusting':
"I think this is a manufactured protest. I think these actions are disgusting. I think if we are genuinely going to accept that libraries should close because of the minds of these people then we've turned a very dark corner".
