City traders say supporting small businesses is the only way to prevent closures.
Shop owners are encouraging anyone shopping this Black Friday to lend support locally.
Speaking to RedFM News, Catherine Clancy at Minehan's Jewellers on North Main Street says it's vital that people make an effort to shop in the city:
"We all come to town and say that shop is closed, this shop is nearly 63 years established and we have loyal customers who come back, but we need new customers to come in too and make the city thrive, we all need to make an effort."
