The clean-up begins today after an orange rain warning ended for Cork last night.

Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford and Waterford were also hit with torrential downpours, fallen trees, flooding and travel disruption.

Parts of Skibbereen, Carrigaline and Macroom lost power yesterday but it has since been restored while the county steered clear of any major flooding as over 50 millimetres of rainfall was recorded.

Alan O'Reilly from Carlow Weather says drivers still need to be careful on the roads this morning:

"Well, some very heavy rain overnight will mean that there will be still some spots flooding this morning, especially in the South and the South East the country, and also some debris that has been blown onto the road. So road users want to take great care this morning, especially in the South and Southeast."
