High tide was at 8:35, however the flood waters have not yet receded.

Areas such as the South Mall, Oliver Plunkett Street, South Terrace and low lying quays around Morrison's Island are under water.

Speaking to RedFM News, Director of Operations with Cork City Council David Joyce says its been between five and ten years since the city has been this badly flooded:

Speaking to RedFM News, Claire Nash from Nash 19 on Princes Street says many newer traders may have been caught out by this mornings flooding:

Elsewhere the main Carrigaline to Crosshaven road, Station Road and the Main Street in Carrigaline are impassable.

A contra-flow system is in operation in the square in Bantry.
