That's according to Cork East TD Seán Sherlock who was speaking after all four TD's for the area met with the Minister for Health and Older People Mary Butler and representatives of the HSE.
The centre with 19 long term residents on the grounds of Midleton Community Hospital is due to close shortly due to the poor state of the building, however residents and their families say the centre provides a vital service and are calling for it to remain open while a new centre is built.
Local politicians are lobbying hard for the facility to be kept in place and enhanced.
Speaking to RedFM News Deputy Sean Sherlock has welcomed the news that the Mental Health Commission is examining all issues surrounding the proposed closure and transfer of patients to another facility:
