A supermarket in Cobh has launched a Christmas initiative to help people in the local community
In a post on their social media channels Garvey's SuperValu say they understand Christmas can be a difficult time of the year for people
They're urging anyone struggling to make ends meet to make contact and their team will arrange delivery of a discretionary food package to their door
Manager at Garvey's SuperValu Cobh John Paul Curtin told RedFM News this is the third year of the initiative which is strictly confidential and well received locally
"Garvey's SuperValu and our brand is all about supporting local and we value our role in the community of Cobh and the importance of giving back to the community. I suppose there's no better time than Christmas when there's people within our community struggling financially. It can be tough time of the year and so we decided this would be a good initiative and a good way to give back to those people"
