Cocaine addiction is on the rise in Cork.

A charity has developed a recovery programme throughout the county to combat the surge in people needing help with the drug addiction.

Alcohol and drug treatment charity Coolmine says alcohol is still the biggest problem for people with addiction issues.

Speaking to RedFM News, Regional Manager of Coolmine Cork, Brian Duncan, says cocaine has swiftly become the 2nd most popular drug for people dealing with substance abuse:

"Well particularly with cocaine there's been a significant rise in people presenting with cocaine as a problematic substance for them. That's reflective nationally as well but it's become the 2nd most common substance for people in Cork and Kerry so it's actually taken over cannabis as the 2nd most popular substance."
