The cold snap kicked in with a vengeance across the country overnight and there's more on the way.
A yellow alert for low temperatures and ice is in place until 10am this morning with a snow and ice warning now coming into effect at 9 o'clock tonight in Cork.
Up to five centimetres of snow could fall tonight - especially in Munster.
Met Eireann Forecaster Aoife Kealy says road conditions and paths are quite icy this morning.
"Really, it's nationwide, so particularly inland areas will get quite cold. we're likely to see temperatures getting down to even minus four degrees tonight. And so very cold temperatures really widely getting below freezing, even as the daytime temperatures are going to struggle to get above, you know, 5 or 6 degrees through today and tomorrow."
