A community organisation in North Cork is appealing for volunteers to help process donations made to Ukrainian refugees arriving into the area.
That's according to the Manager of IRD Duhallow, Maura Walsh.
The organisation is organising the volunteer effort in the region.
There was been a huge community response with people making donations to the new arrivals.
However, there is still a severe shortage of toiletries for both men and women - with an appeal out for deodorant, shampoo, toothpaste and toothbrushes, as well as dressing gowns, blankets and flip-flops.
Speaking to RedFM News, Maura says volunteers to help process donations at the collection centre at the James O'Keeffe Institute in Newmarket would be very welcome:
"What we are looking for on Monday - we've set up the marquee here in the James O'Keeffe Institute. We have a lot of donation in. Now, we will have to go through all of them, sort them all out into sizes, and we have a steam cleaner to make sure that everything is properly sterilised and cleaned. We will bag all of them, size them and then put them into big bags and bring them to where they're needed. So there's a huge job. I would love to have... We had fantastic volunteers on Easter Monday, so even if they give an hour - to come in and roll up their sleeves".
