Concern is being expressed over proposed cuts to emergency ambulance cover across Cork.

The National Ambulance Service changes will come into effect on September 23rd.

They include the reduction of non-rostered shifts currently covered by relief staff or overtime.

There will be no ambulance day crew on Mondays in Skibbereen, Tuesdays in Castletownbere, Thursdays in Clonakilty, and limited cover in Bantry.

Fianna Fáil TD for Cork South West, Christopher O'Sullivan says it amounts to a blatant disregard for community safety, while Labour councillor Eoghan Kenny is describing the decision as "absolutely disgraceful and completely unacceptable".
