The Construction Industry Federation says building new homes in Cork is their top priority.
At the CIF summit in Rochestown today, it was made clear that Cork is one of the fastest growing cities in the country.
Cork has a population of more than 580 thousand people, making up 10 percent of the entire country’s population.
Speaking to RedFM News, Conor O’Connell of the Construction Industry Federation says housing is the main priority to match the growing population:
"Housing is obviously top of the agenda or one of the main items to be discussed. It's a key enabler for further growth in the economy, further growth in the population of Cork and so we're discussing the challenges but also what can aid greater housing supply. So schemes like the first home scheme to help the boys scheme and all the other initiatives that have been underway by Government and ourselves to aid greater housing supply in Cork."
