Minister Simon Coveney told RedFM News this evening that construction of the 6,000 seater project on the site of the former Beamish and Crawford Brewery on North Main Street is finally due to start following years of setbacks.
The sod was turned in February 2016, however construction inflation, funding issues, a re-design and the pandemic have resulted in years long delays.
It’s expected construction will take at least 18 months and will cost over €90 million.
