Cork Airport has become the first transport hub in Ireland to introduce reverse vending machines as part of the Deposit Return Scheme
Four reverse vending machines have been installed at the Airport by Re-turn including the first charity Reverse Vending Machines.
All funds raised through the charity RVMs will go to the ‘Return for Children’ initiative to support six of Ireland’s largest children’s charities
Ciarán Foley of Return told RedFM News that Cork Airport is piloting the scheme and it's hoped it will soon be rolled out at other transport hubs across the country
"Cork are piloting this for us, and hopefully it will go well. I'm sure customers will receive it well and then we'll be looking to roll this out across other airports and ports and train stations across Ireland"
