The fund was announced in the Budget this afternoon and the exact details are expected to be established in the next few days.
Cork Airport was the second busiest and fastest growing in the country before the outbreak of Covid-19.
As part of Budget 2022 the investment into aviation is for a number of both capital and grant schemes.
Several airlines have announced routes from the airport in recent weeks, with KLM the latest to announce a twice-weekly service to Amsterdam earlier today.
Speaking to RedFM News, Communications Manager at Cork Airport Kevin Cullinane is welcoming the fund:
"As part of a much broader package today there was also a further 36 million announced for the regional airports programme to assist airports like Cork, in terms of investment in safety, security and sustainability initiatives, added to the fact that the Government has already committed 10 million euro to the main roadway reconstruction project, you know, today's announcement has to be broadly welcomed, so these supports announced today for Irish airports will certainly help us rebuild our international connectivity."
