Over 53,000 passengers are due to pass through the terminal at Cork Airport over the Bank Holiday Weekend.
It's an 88% recovery on the last comparable August Bank Holiday Weekend which was in 2019 when 60,000 passengers flew to and from the airport.
Passengers are reminded to arrive at least 90 minutes before their flight is due to board and to allow up to 30 minutes extra if checking in a bag.
Management say they have seen an increase in passengers from the west, midlands and east of the country as Dublin Airport continues to deal with long queues and a build up of lost luggage.
Speaking to RedFM News, Communications Manager at Cork Airport Barry Holland says they expect everything to run smoothly this weekend:
"It's been the busiest summer in three years, it hasn't been without its challenges naturally enough. It's a sector that has had to go from 0 to 100 in a very short space of time. We're very, very grateful for the patience and the understanding that all our passengers have given us over the past couple of months. The summer has been a tremendous success here in Cork. We're very grateful for the business that we get from our traditional markets, our traditional catchment area being the counties in Munster, but also as well as the new passengers who are coming to Cork airport for the first time."
