€23 million in Covid 19 funding has been announced for Irish airports
Under the scheme Cork Airport will receive €1.4 million on top of the €10 million announced last week for the rebuilding of the main runway in September
The funding is to compensate airports for a portion of the damage caused by Covid to airport business
The funding has been allocated on a pro-rata basis with reference to passenger numbers in 2019 and is being made available ahead of the return to international travel next Monday July 19th
Speaking to RedFM News Minister of State at the Department of Transport, Hildegarde Naughton says she hopes the funding will go some way towards aiding Cork Airport's recovery process due to the impact of Covid 19 on the aviation sector
