The figure is half the almost 119,000 that passed through the airport pre-Covid but a huge increase in the just almost 8,800 passengers who flew in and out during the entire month of December last year.
Sunday December 19th is set to be the busiest day for both arrivals and departures and January 2nd is expected to be the busiest day for departures.
The airport say gifts should not be wrapped in case they need to be opened while passing through security.
Christmas crackers may be brought through security provided they do not contain any sharp or prohibited items. Snow globes are not permitted in hand luggage due to their liquid content.
Those travelling out of the airport are advised to arrive at least 90 minutes prior to their flight irrespective of whether they are checking in online or at the airport.
