The National Space Centre, or Elfordstown Earthstation as it’s also known, is a ground station located near Midleton, County Cork.
Next week it is set to open its door to the public and welcome them in to view the wonderful world of space.
The centre, which is usually closed to the public, will be providing tours of the grounds and hosting an exhibition on ‘space waste.’
It will be open to the public from the 3rd to the 5th of December and tickets are free.
110 students from participating schools will also have their artwork showcased as part of an exhibition titled ‘Hello Future World,’ led by artist Scott Gorham.
The resulting collaborative works of students from Gaelscoil Mhainistir Na Corann, Kyle NS, St. Fergal’s NS, and the Greywood Arts Youth Group will be on display.
The tours will be operating under current Covid-19 guidelines and restrictions.
Everyone above the age of 12 must wear a mask while indoors and social distancing must be adhered too at all times.
