Cork bus drivers have hit out after they were docked pay for refusing to work during the Status Red rain warning last month
Several drivers feared that they would not be able to get home if they went to work and said they were following Met Éireann’s advice not to travel during Storm Bert
Bus Éireann has insisted safety of staff is of 'paramount importance' however drivers were issued with formal warnings for not working during the storm
Speaking to RedFM News Dermot O'Leary of the National Bus and Railworkers Union says an industrial relations process is underway in relation to the docked pay
"There's two distinct issues here, just so people understand, there's the issue of recompense, or getting our drivers paid quite rightly, we would say, and that's going through the industrial relations process. The other item that's taking place is the trade unions been giving a better understanding of how the decision making process works"
