Cork Business Association President Kevin Herlihy, together with other members of the CBA are encouraging all Cork businesses to get involved in Cork Simon’s Christmas Jumper Day.
The Day is in support of the More Than A Gift Campaign, where you can help to provide a Christmas dinner, a warm bed or even a brand new start for men and women in Cork experiencing homelessness.
According to Kevin Herlihy, who is a long time supporter of Christmas Jumper Day in his seven Herlihy Centra stores, said:
"We’ve participated in the Christmas Jumper Day for the last five years now, and in that time it has really grown legs. We make a real occasion out of it each year, it’s one of the highlights in the calendar for us! The staff really go all out with dressing up in the maddest costumes they can find and decorating the shop with our Christmas decorations."
Kevin, who employs over 300 staff, goes on to say:
“There's nothing like that bit of rivalry, the friendly banter between each store to see who will win the Best Dressed competition. The Christmas Jumper Day, which this year takes place throughout our stores on Friday December 14th, creates a really good atmosphere amongst the team every year, not least because it’s an opportunity for us to do something nice for our local community and those who rely on Cork Simon. I’d really like to encourage other businesses in the city to participate.”
CBA Executive Committee Member, Sean McCarthy, co-owner of the popular Tequila Jacks, is also joining in the festive fashion parade by hosting the Tequila Jacks Christmas Jumper day on December 9th, when all staff tips will be donated to Cork Simon’s Christmas Jumper Appeal.
