Cork Business Association says it’s not surprised more businesses have to close because of soaring costs.

It’s calling on the Government to protect small traders so owners can afford to stay open.

Nash 19 is the latest business to close its doors while Tung Sing is closing its Patrick Street restaurant.

Meanwhile, Naturally Nourished Café hiked their prices to cope with increased outgoings.

Speaking to RedFM News, Kevin Herlihy from Cork Business Association says traders are struggling to pay their staff since minimum wage went up:

"Energy costs, rent to pay, minimum wage has gone up from €11.30 up to €12.70 in one tranche so every year, every other year it was 30,40,50 cent. And this year it's €1.40 and it's just unsustainable for small to medium sized businesses."
