A Cork campaigner for eating disorders says it’s disappointing yet unsurprising that nothing has been done to improve services.
Care Ireland will brief TD’s at Leinster House next Wednesday to make the Government aware of how poor eating disorder services are within the health service.
There are just 3 hospital beds in the whole country for adults who are struggling with an eating disorder.
Speaking to RedFM News, Luna Fleming from Cork city, who is recovering from an eating disorder, says nothing is being done to improve services despite the massive increase in adults needing treatment:
"It's disappointing but unsurprising, nothing ever gets done but we're going to keep fighting until it does. inpatient beds there's only 3, and that's been the same for the last 20 years there's been no change despite the massive rise in eating disorder cases, those beds are in Dublin so if you live anywhere else you can't really get inpatient treatment."
