Katherine Dolphin Griffin from Midleton handed over the keys to the cars, which will be used by the hospital's community palliative care team, at a ceremony today.
Katherine wrote Hope to Cope about her own experience with cancer and spent every weekend for almost a year selling the book at Dunnes Stores shops around the country.
The primary school teacher is also raising money for the Irish Cancer Society to fund a cancer research PhD and plans to hand over a cheque for €50,000 on World Cancer Day in February, bringing the total raised to €100,000.
Speaking to RedFM News at Marymount, Katherine outlined what she learned about herself over the past year:
"I'm resilient, I don't take no and I think that's an important lesson. I don't take no for an answer and if something doesn't work out the way it's supposed to, there's always a Plan B, there's always another option if you just take stock of where you are and think about what you really want. And I'm just trying to think outside the box because this whole journey has been thinking outside the box from self publishing- even downloading Instagram and Facebook to get the book out there- because I couldn't get into book shops and publishing companies. So it has worked because I haven't given up on it and I have a passion and I could see that goal and I stuck with it and had a bit of faith in myself and reached out and asked for help. So I've learned so much."
