Sexual Violence Centre Cork has called for sex-for-rent exploitation to be recognised as a crime and for legislation to be put in place.
This follows a report from the National Women's council showing Ireland to be a "perfect environment" for the exploitation of vulnerable tenants.
According to Co-founder of SVCC, Mary Crilly, the situation is getting much worse and needs to be stopped.
She says landlords who are taking advantage of their tenants need to be held accountable.
"There are predators everywhere, you know who will abuse and whatever way they feel they can. That is the situation, and we keep tolerating it and we just need to stop it and kind of get these guys held to account by bringing in some kind of legislation, where everything has to be registered and where we can allow these young people to support, and wherever they need to, report it".
