The Cork Chair of the Irish Hotels Federation says the pandemic has presented the perfect opportunity for anyone who wants to start a career in the hotel industry.
General Manager of the Kingsley Hotel Fergal Harte made the comment as the hospitality sector struggles with low levels of recruitment following the easing of restrictions.
Many people employed in hotels, pubs, restaurants and cafes lost their jobs at the start of the pandemic and found work elsewhere...
Speaking to RedFM News, Fergal Harte says there are now plenty of opportunities for career progression:
"So many people who came in as people who are collecting classes in bars, or who are working as kitchen porches in kitchens, who became either managers or head chefs. That can happen. Probably, those avenues and those pathways, if anything are shorter now, and there are more options there."
