The planned development of 1800 apartments at Cork's Docklands has been put on hold indefinitely
It follows a decision by An Bord Pleanala to refuse planning to Goulding Chemicals to build a port facility at Marino Point
The refusal means Goulding will continue to operate on Centre Park Road meaning the apartment plan must be shelved for now
Speaking to RedFM News Cathal McSweeney of Cork Chamber says the decision is a "set back to regeneration" in Cork's Docklands
"The Docklands regeneration is of national strategic importance, and a vital project for Cork City and County. Cork city's population is expected to grow by 50% in the years to 2040 and the Docklands is targeted to take 20% of that growth"
