People in Cork are to participate in workshops to tackle the climate change and biodiversity crises.

Cork City Council intoduced a new Community Climate Action Programme after they declared a Climate and Biodiversity emergency in 2019

The programme aims to help the city deal with issues surrounding transport, water and food that we consume.

Speaking to RedFM News Bernadette Connolly, Development Coordinator of Cork Environmental Forum says it's important for the community to become more involved.

"There will be a series of workshops that they will participate in to explore issues, to become more informed whether that is around energy and transport and their role in what they might be able to do locally to reduce some of the emissions in those sectors.

"It's to bring a lens for both climate and biodiversity to issues like the food that we consume and the water that we use."
