Calls have been made to secure the future of the Marina Market.
Cork City Council has rejected a retention planning application and proposed plans to extend the market’s footprint.
CPR Properties lodged an application in January to continue using the site as a market-food emporium and had planned to create a function space and coffee roastery, along with the construction of a mezzanine for further seating.
However Cork City Council refused permission, saying that the infrastructure on Kennedy Quay was "insufficient for existing and proposed use."
CPR Properties has four weeks to appeal the decision with An Bord Pleanála.
