  • Fr. Mathew Quay
  • Fr. Mathew Street
  • Union Quay
  • Trinity Bridge
  • South Terrace
  • Lavitts Quay
  • Kyrls Street
  • Kyrls Quay
  • Crosses Green
  • Sharman Crawford St
  • Wandesford Quay.

There is also a risk of flooding at:

  • Lapps Quay
  • MacSwiney Quay
  • Albert Quay
  • Kennedy Quay
  • Proby’s Quay
  • Frenche’s Quay
  • Lancaster Quay
  • Sullivan’s Quay
  • South Mall and via side streets onto Oliver Plunkett St., and thence to Patrick Street, Grand Parade, Washington Street, and Lower Glanmire Road.

Cork City Council say it's Flood Response Plan has been activated and it will continue to monitor  the situation and further advice will be issued.

Cork City Council has a limited stock of gel bags and sand-bags available for collection by members of the public and businesses (details below).

Location What
Council Depot, Anglesea Terrace Gel Bags

These will be available for collection at the following times:

Day Date From Until
Thursday 20/08/2020 12:00pm 5:00pm

As availability is limited, Cork City Council will prioritise those living or operating in locations of greatest need.

Traffic Impact:

A number of road closures and traffic restrictions will be necessary. Diversions will be put in place to ensure traffic can still circulate.  These will be introduced from early afternoon in order to reduce any negative impact of traffic movements through standing water.  Any restrictions will be eased as appropriate.

Motorists are advised not to park in any of the areas listed above as of and from 6:00pm this evening until after the flood waters have abated, which is expected to be between 8:30pm and 9:00pm.

Contacting Cork City Council:

Cork City Council’s Customer Service Unit (CSU) has extended its opening hours this evening until 9:00pm to allow the public contact us with any issue that may arise due to this flooding event.  The CSU can be contacted on 021-4924000.
