The Cork City development plan is to be published for public consultation this month.

It follows a series of votes by city councillors on Monday night on a number of proposed amendments to the draft plan
which will shape the city’s development for the next five years.

Proposed residential zoning amendments on sites across the city could allow for
a minimum of 1,970 new housing units.

Under Ireland 2040, Cork's population is expected to grow by 55%.

According to the Irish Examiner the plan will put a major focus on large-scale regeneration projects to allow for new employment,
housing, and supporting infrastructure in the docklands and in the expanded city region.
