Cork City Fire Brigade has appealed to the public not to use fireworks this Halloween weekend.
Fire services around the country are urging the public to enjoy the weekend but to make sure to stay safe.
Meanwhile, the CSPCA is reminding people that Halloween can be a particularly stressful time for animals, and to keep them indoors where possible.
Speaking to RedFM News, Second Officer at Cork City Fire Brigade, Victor Shine, says that last year some people in Cork were substantially injured by fireworks:
"Unfortunately, fireworks are becoming more available and the risks associated with them are quite horrendous. We've had a number of incidents last year where people had substantial damage to their hands from fireworks exploding into their hands, and of course, there's the risk of property damage as well, of misdirected fireworks going into flammable materials and properties and so on, causing fires."
