Rents in the city reached an average of €1,453 a month in the first quarter of this year according to the Residential Tenancies Board.
It's an increase of 7.7% and is almost €360 more expensive than rent in county Cork which is now almost €1,100.
The average rent for new tenancies in the first three months of this year was €1,460 while new tenants in Dublin were paying an average of €2,015.
