A Cork business man who was born in the Ukrainian city of Odessa says he often hears the sound of air raid sirens while talking to Ukrainian-based colleagues on the phone.
Translit CEO Alex Chernenko is donating technology and language services to help refugees who need help to communicate following the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Over one million people have fled the conflict and are now trying to deal with officials and various government departments in countries where people might not speak the same language as them.
Up to 80,000 Ukrainian refugees are expected to arrive in Ireland over the coming week and months.
Speaking to RedFM news, Translit CEO Alex Chernenko says he is shocked by the war and he and his team will do all they can to help people in need:
"One of my employees who's based there had a bomb explode next to her apartment. One of my business partners had to flee the country and relocate. Some of our other subcontractors and freelancers have to change their home address twice already. Today, another person is relocating. People are sharing stories that they are working, Then they get a siren and they go into bunker and it happens seven times a day."
