A Cork Fine Gael councillor wants more to be done about bookmakers and takeaways lining Irish towns.
The matter was up for discussion at a Cork County Council meeting yesterday.
Councillor Jack White is calling for more protection for local producers, cafes and restaurants.
He says an influx of fast food and betting shops is making for an eyesore:
"We have some amazing main streets and some amazing businesses in Cork County but unfortunately in many towns, we have a proliferation of bookmakers, fast food outlets and such like. And to be honest they are ablaze on Main Streets in many cases."
