Cork County Council has called on the state to provide funding to open three railway stations in the north of the county.

They want new stations in Mourneabbey and Rathduff, and the train station at Buttevant to be reopened.

Irish Rail have said that it will lend its support to any effort the Council might make to get funding through the National Development Plan’s Rural Regeneration and Development Fund.
