A Cork couple are to challenge the findings of the inquest into their baby boy's death

Aidan and Amanda O'Reilly's son Alfie died in his father's arms four days after his birth in July 2020

The couple settled an action against the HSE over his death but rejected an apology issued during the legal process

A jury at Alfie's inquest recorded death by natural causes however Amanda told RedFM News she rejects the findings

"Despite our legal team, their legal team and the coroner advising that a narrative verdict should be returned, the jury returned a verdict of death by natural causes, which was a huge blow to Aidan and I and a further insult to Alfie. Especially, now that we have the admission of liability by the HSE. So this is why we feel failed by the justice system - not once but twice"

Amanda and Aidan are fundraising for the charities that helped them during Alfie's short life and if you would like to help their campaign please click  here
