A Cork event promoter says waiting until the end of the month for a roadmap to resume concerts or festivals could be too late.
His comments come after 5,000 people attended a Tom Jones concert at Customs House Square in Belfast yesterday, the first of a 10-day festival.
It's thought up to 30% of tickets sold are from the Republic, with no current plan to resume gigs here.
Indiependence promoter Shane Dunne, who was at the concert last night, believes the government needs to be putting plans in place now for similar events here.
"We can't do a 5,000 capacity outdoor event with a week's notice. There's a lead time involved with it.
"I think the Department of Culture don't understand that - we've been telling them for over a year.
"Giving a roadmap on the 26th or 27th of August means that you won't be able to do anything on any scale until October, which is too late."
