Fire fighters in the city say they are looking forward to engaging in talks with the City Council.
Fire crews called off an industrial action that was due to begin tomorrow after the council said they were requesting the services of the Labour Court to solve a long running dispute with city-based fire crews.
The dispute about staffing levels began in 2019 after the city boundary extension which resulted in Ballincollig becoming part of the area served by the City Fire Service.
Speaking to RedFM News, Fire fighter and union rep Billy Crowley outlines the resolution they are looking for.
"The resolution for us is that Cork City Council would continue with its retained recruitment process, and we fully support that to provide a service for Ballincollig.
"But on an interim basis, as a stop gap measure between now and when they have that retained service in place, we're seeking that Cork City Council use the resources that they currently have within Cork City Fire Brigade to provide that pump outside in Ballincollig."
