Cork fishermen have organised a flotilla to gather at Roches Point and make their way up the river to the city in an effort to highlight what they say is the "erosion" of the fishing industry.

Fishermen say they have seen 20% of their earnings wiped out and say they are slowly watching the shrinking of Ireland's fishing fleets.
The flotilla is due to arrive at Horgan's Quay around 9am and once then they will walk with their families to the Taoiseach's office in Turners Cross to hand deliver a letter outlining the plight of their industry.

Speaking to RedFM News Patrick Murphy of the Irish South and West Fish Producers Organisation says fishermen feel like they are under attack.

"What fishermen are doing in this demonstration, they just want to show Cork people that these are our boats, this is what we worked all our lives for, my father worked for, we're still paying for these boats and we're being put out of business.

"If you think that this is wrong, help us. Tell our politicians this is not right. We have solutions to this, we can go to Europe."
