A Cork group who are bringing their anti mask campaign to the gates of primary schools have been condemned.

The group have been targeting a number of primary schools in the past fortnight and protesting at the implementation of mask-wearing guidelines in schools.

The principal of a school, where the group recently gathered to protest, said she felt intimidated and harassed when she confronted the group outside her school gates earlier this week.

She said the protest had been timed to coincide with the end of the school day so that protestors could meet parents to raise concerns about mask wearing.

The INTO says pupils and staff should feel safe at their schools and authorities must take steps to protect school communities.

Speaking to RedFM News, Sinn Fein's Donnchadh O Laoghaire says while people are entitled to protest they are not entitled to bring it to the school gates:

"I don't think it's fair on the children. I don't think it's fair on staff. It's intimidating. So I'd ask those people to go, who are protesting, by all means continue protesting but don't do it at the school. Don't do it at the school in front of the children, putting pressure on them putting pressure on schools who have no discretion in this. They don't make the rules. They're just implementing them."
